Sunday 30 November 2025
Join this fun ‘guess your time’ event starting and ending at Taxal Church.
This is how it works:
- Study the route map (maybe even do a recce)
- Register at Taxal Church and provide the time you think it will take you to do the route – this is logged by the Race Director, Sara Knowles.
- Register your return time when you arrive back at Taxal Church
- The winner is the runner who guessed their time most accurately.
N.B. The 6½-mile / 10K course is unmarked and unmarshalled, but we provide a route map. The route alternates between clockwise ↻ and anticlockwise ↺ directions; in 2025 we run clockwise. Runners set off at 2 minute intervals between 09.30 and 10.30. It is expected the event will finish by 12.30.
🍰 Tea, coffee and cakes will be served at the church following the race.
🪙 Donations to the church by card or cash on the day.
🚙 Parking is available at the church, but please car share/trot there if possible.
🏆 The winner will be presented with the Terry Lardner memorial trophy. Terry was a much-liked club member. The race passes Terry’s Tree, a mountain ash planted in his honour in the Goyt Valley, just below Taxal Edge.
IMPORTANT The course is unmarked and unmarshalled. Please ensure you carry kit appropriate for the weather conditions and terrain to include: first aid kit, warm and waterproof layers, a foil blanket, food and hydration. Carry a well-charged phone. Trail shoes for mixed trail including peaty/muddy conditions are required. If you or a fellow runner has a problem on the course, contact the Race Director – Sara Knowles – or other group member via WhatsApp. In case of medical emergency call 999.
